Meet the Maker - Bobbi Jean

Hello and Welcome Friends,

I'm Bobbi Jean, the owner of BobbiJeanK: Baubles & Designs. I'm also the purchaser, shipper, customer service rep, photographer, graphic designer, web designer, and more as I wear all of the different hats in my business. I've always been creative and crafty. From an early age I loved making things and have enjoyed creating many items throughout the years in small business ventures and as gifts - t-shirts, wreaths, jewelry, and more. 

After resigning from teaching in 2018 after 11 years in the profession and finding a business professional position, I noticed that my evenings were lackluster with not much to do as teaching tasks had taken up most all of my "free" time. As I had not dabbled in a creative venture in a couple of years, I took back up jewelry making, specifically with leather earrings in the fall of 2019. I made a few pairs, started a Facebook group, and began what I thought would be a small side hustle.

Fast forward to March 2020 when the pandemic hit and my husband was unable to work his small martial arts business for the next year. I was thankfully able to work from home with my business professional position which allowed me the time to devote to building this website, marketing my products, growing my Facebook group, and getting my business officially off the ground in order to help make ends meet. Little did I know that what was supposed to be a "side hustle" would end being a much bigger blessing than I anticipated.

My business continued to grow and blossom through the pandemic which was an immense blessing for our family to make ends meet. My husband was able to slowly start opening back up in the spring of 2021. While everything started trending upward, our family was devastated in October 2021 when my mom was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. 

For the next year I would balance a full time job, working my business, and being a caregiver for my mom alongside my dad. That was the most difficult year I have ever experienced. During car rides to and from doctor appointments, my mom told me about all of the regrets she had - things she didn't do and places she didn't go. It inspired me to want to live life to the fullest. I knew I needed to take a leap of faith and take this small business of mine full time. I didn't want to look back and think "what if." I submitted by resignation the end of July 2022 to my full time job and planned to officially be a full time business owner starting on September 1st. My mom was so excited for me to take this leap of faith.

Unfortunately, my mom went to heaven to meet Jesus on Wednesday, August 31, 2022 after an almost year-long battle with pancreatic cancer. The Lord's timing is perfect. That day was supposed to be the last day of my full time job. It was as if my mom and the Lord were telling me that nothing was standing in my way of taking my leap of faith. I did extend my employment one additional month to get a few things in a row, but I did officially become a full time small business owner on October 1, 2022.   

In addition to being a full time small business owner, I'm married to my ninja husband, Jarrod, and I'm a crazy cat mom to our 3 cats- Tigger, Ham Sandwich, and Waffles. In fact, the BobbiJeanK: Baubles & Designs logo is designed after Tigger, my very first pet and cat, an orange tabby. I'm also a floral fanatic, loving everything floral, hence the flower embellishment on the logo. The name BobbiJeanK comes from my first and middle names and last initial while "Baubles & Designs" refers to jewelry and other gift ideas offered in the shop.

It is my pleasure and passion to offer you quality, affordable, and stylish handcrafted earrings and studs as well as unique gift ideas in my shop. Each item is made with a lot of love, prayer, and coffee. We are located in the upstate of South Carolina in Fort Mill, right outside of Charlotte, North Carolina. In addition to this website, our Facebook Community is where most of the action happens with new releases, giveaways, interactive posts, weekly prayer posts, and more. We're a close knit community of women who pray for and encourage each other. 

When you purchase from BobbiJeanK: Baubles & Designs, you're helping to give back to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PanCAN) in memory of my mom. $1 from every order each month is donated to PanCAN, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to take bold action to improve the lives of everyone impacted by pancreatic cancer. In 2022, we donated $1,530 and already in the first 4 months of 2023 we've donated almost $700 and we're on track to exceed giving from last year.
